CMIS Africa Fellowship Program

A 2-year specialized program designed for journalists reporting on high-impact sectors such as financial services, agriculture, tourism, energy, manufacturing, ESG, ICT, infrastructure, and human capital. 

 

It aims to elevate the quality, depth, and ethical standards of journalism in Africa by developing highly skilled, sector-savvy reporters and editors.

Expected Outcomes

  1. Develop a sustainable talent pipeline of ethical, cross-functional journalists with deep sector expertise.
  2. Enhance public trust in journalism by producing high-quality, well-researched stories.
  3. Strengthen accountability and civic engagement by spotlighting underreported issues in critical sectors.

Co-working Labs

Collaborative spaces where fellows engage in peer-to-peer learning, newsroom simulations, and sector deep-dives

Digital Toolkits

Access to advanced digital tools for research, multimedia storytelling, audience engagement, and fact-checking

Application Process

  1. Call Details – Announced during each intake cycle with clear timelines.
  2. Eligibility Criteria – Professional journalists, freelancers, or newsroom staff with demonstrable experience and interest in at least one target sector.
  3. Deadlines – Clearly communicated at the start of each cycle.
  4. Application Form – Includes personal details, work samples, and a project proposal for the fellowship period.
