CMIS Africa Reporting Grants

The CMIS Africa Reporting Grants provide targeted financial and technical support to journalists producing in-depth, public-interest stories on Africa’s most critical development and governance issues. The grants aim to remove financial barriers that often limit investigative and sector-focused reporting, enabling journalists to dedicate the time and resources needed for high-impact, ethically grounded journalism

Grant Model

  1. Funding Support: Covers travel, research, data access, multimedia production, and other story-related costs.
  2. Revenue Sharing: Grants are disbursed in a 40/30/40 split40% to journalists, 30% to editors, and 40% to media houses — ensuring fair recognition of the full production chain.
  3. Editorial Guidance: Access to experienced editors and subject-matter mentors throughout the project cycle.
  4. Digital Tools & Resources: Access to fact-checking platforms, audience engagement analytics, and multimedia production support.
  5. Publication Pathways: Opportunities to publish with CMIS Africa’s platforms and partner outlets for wider reach and impact.
